Certifying as a B Corp: Overview

The B Impact Assessment creates consistent standards to measure and evaluate a company’s environmental 🌎 and social 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏾 performance.

In order to pass the assessment and certify as a B Corp companies must score 80 out of a maximum score of 200 on the B Impact Assessment. Today, the average score for companies that have taken the assessment is 50.9.

Every year, the assessment changes and evolves to incorporate feedback and improve the standards for people and the planet. Companies must be able to verify their assessment through supporting documentation and B Corps must re-certify their standing every 3️⃣ years.

The 5 Pillars of Impact

The B Corp certification process measures five pillars of a company’s impact which include (1) governance, (2) workers, (3) community, (4) environment and (5) customers.
